What To Do this Weekend - Shows and Information Sessions

I know, I know, "information sessions" doesn't really sound that appealing does it? That's why I put it last in the title. But we'll talk about it first, so you can feel like we got it over with!

There are two sessions this weekend. The first one is tonight actually, and aims to educate participants on the latest income tax tips from local chartered accountants and registered financial planners. It starts 7PM at the AC Hunter Library - see the calendar entry Income Tax Information Session for complete details. The second session will sound more fun right off the bat, and will be ideal for those hoping to take in some winter fun with the family: Introduction to Winter Camping is on Saturday night at the library from 7-8PM (details in calendar).

Friday and Saturday night, there is a Big Band Show at the Arts & Culture Centre, featuring "music from the movies" (including Thornbirds, Love Story, and others), and "40 years of Big Band Hits" (The Look of Love; Cry Me a River, etc.). I understand that as of the 18th, there were still a few tickets left - details in calendar.

And, at the LSPU Hall, The Road Less Gravelled  sounds very promising! I read a wonderful review of it in an issue of Current this week: the show is written by a Newfoundlander about her experiences growing up in Conche, and has played to sold-out audiences across Canada! It won a "Best in Fest" award at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and was a top selling show at the 2007 Atlantic Fringe Festival.  It starts at 8PM Saturday night, details here.

Saturday we are forecasted to have mixed precipitation, but Sunday is expected to be sunny with cloudy periods.... if the snow sticks around enough, I may head back to the Park for sledding and join the swarms of people racing down the hill, followed by a nice stroll by the river - *bliss* on any day!

Have Fun!
