Recall - Metal Mood Rings

The following recall notice is from HSW:

Health Canada reports of a recall involving Metal Mood Rings. Health Canada's sampling and testing program revealed that the rings contain cadmium in excess of guidance levels proposed recently by Health Canada. See HSW Products tab for specifics on the affected items (including additional photos).

Recalled products were sold in vending machines located in department stores and shopping malls from December 2009 to November 2012.

Cadmium is a heavy metal which is known to be more toxic than lead. Both are known to be very toxic metals, especially for children. A range of serious health effects have been associated with exposure to lead and cadmium, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, serious brain injury, convulsions, coma, as well as effects related to the liver, kidneys, heart and immune system. In extreme cases, there have been deaths. See Hazard tab for more information.
Corrective Action:
Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewellery away from children and dispose of the item in their regular household waste.
For additional information, consumers may call the company's toll free Customer Service Line at 1-800-265-8363, emailsales@actionmatic.com or visit the firm's website.
